One of the best things about Global Xchange is the way you get to dig beneath the surface of another culture. You might not experience it exactly as a local does, but Global Xchange will get you as close as you ever possibly could.
Accommodation will vary but, wherever you are staying, be sure that we have made sure it is safe and has all the basic amenities that you will need. It’s important that you are prepared for living in basic conditions when you are overseas.
We work in communities of all sizes, from small villages to big cities, so you could end up living in either a rural or urban setting.
Youth Xchange:
To make sure you’re totally immersed in the culture, you’ll stay in a ‘host home’ with local people for the duration of the exchange. Your hosts could be young or old, single people or large families, living in a flat or a house. The one thing that unites them is their willingness to integrate you into every aspect of their daily lives.
We want you to get the most out of your entire placement, not just the part of it when you’re not in your own country. That’s why for the majority of our programmes, we make sure the time you spend in your home country won’t be spent in your hometown.
Youth Action:
As a participant of Youth Action you will get definitely get a taste of living in another culture. You will either be living in a ‘host home’ (with local people) or living in communal shared accommodation with other volunteers. It‘s because we work in a wide range of places that accommodation varies depending on what is available in each area.
