Youth Action: How to Apply

Taking the first step

You can see below the dates that programmes start, as well as the deadline for application for each one.  You will be able to specify your availability on the application form.  We will match you to the most appropriate programme based on your available dates.

Youth Action

April 2012 - A small number of places are still available. Apply by Monday 20th February 2012 to be considered for our April programmes.

May 2012 and beyond - The government is developing plans to continue the ICS programme after the pilot; please check the Department for International Development website in March for more details.

You can register your interest for future programmes by emailing enquiry@ics-uk.org.uk or by filling in an application form that will be kept on hold until further details are available.

You can apply at any time, however, it’s not uncommon for us to have to close an application window at short notice, so make sure you get your application in promptly to avoid disappointment.
Before you apply, you should make sure that you have read the Who Can Apply section.  You must be between the age of 18 and 22 by the start of your selected programme.

How to Apply

Please complete the application, thinking carefully about why you want to take part in Global Xchange. Applicants will be judged on their motivation and their understanding of and commitment to Global Xchange's aims. Remember that we don’t require previous experience or skills what we're interested in is why you want to take part in Global Xchange and that you fully understand the aims and goals of the programme.

The online form is the first chance we get to find out more about you and why you’re interested in taking part. We’ll look at what you tell us, and decide whether to invite you through to the next step.

What happens next?

If your initial application is successful we will try and place you on the next available assessment day. Candidates must be available to attend an assessment day in London on one of the scheduled dates in order to proceed with their application. Unfortunately we cannot always place all successful candidates on an assessment day.
