Don’t be daunted by the prospect of fundraising. It’s actually a brilliant way to get into the spirit of your adventure and learn loads of new skills that will stand out on your CV. You’ll be developing skills such as project management, advertising and marketing, event organisation, public speaking, networking and communication skills. Not only that but it is a fun way to help raise awareness of the development issues you’ll be directly involved in and to tell everybody about the amazing project you are about to embark on.
How do I get help fundraising?
After your application has been accepted, you will be provided with a range of ideas, guides and materials on the web to get you started. At any point you will be able to contact the GX fundraising support for feedback and guidance for your fundraising activities. Not only that, but you’ll have two fundraising training sessions which will equip you with the ideas and knowledge to smash your target before you go overseas!

And here are great reviews of fundraising by three recent volunteers:
Targets
Each participant will have a different fundraising target linked to household income. This is to ensure that a wide spectrum of people from all social backgrounds can participate. The targets are:
Household income over £40,000 per year £2000 (compulsory)
Household income between £25,000-£40,000 per year £1000 (compulsory)
Household income less than £25,000 per year £600 (suggested target)
The higher two targets are compulsory targets. If you fall in the lower category, the target isn’t compulsory, but we hope and encourage you will take part in fundraising so you can get involved and help support out development projects.
House Hold Income
In your application, you will be asked to declare the income of the household on which you depend. If you are dependent on parents/carers (i.e. you rely on their income to fully or partially support you) this is the total pre-tax household income for the last tax year – so it includes your parents’ / carers’ income as well as any income you have yourself. Otherwise if you are financially independent, this is your own pre-tax income for the last tax year.
This information must be declared honestly and you may be required to provide evidence to back up the information you have given us before you go overseas.
