Global Xchange (GX) is an international youth and development programme and a partnership between VSO, the British Council, and local organisations around the world. We work to promote intercultural dialogue between young people and youth leaders from the UK with similar groups in an overseas community.
GX has operated in a large number of countries by bringing together young volunteers aged 18-25 to take part in a variety of youth exchange programmes between the UK and the host country.
Each community group is supported and managed by a Programme Supervisor. As a Programme Supervisor, you will be expected to live in or near the hosting UK community for the planning, preparation and evaluation stages and to take a lead in providing support to volunteers, participants and partners during the UK phase of the programme. Would you like to join their ranks?
We are recruiting for Programme Supervisors to be based in communities throughout Northern Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales for 6 months and overseas for 3 months.
We are looking for people with demonstrable experience of working cross-culturally with 18-25 year olds and their leaders in a non-formal teaching environment. They will possess the ability to break down communication barriers in order to promote sharing and learning between cultures. Knowledge of issues which are common to communities in developing countries, possibly achieved through working or living in a developing country, will allow you to develop strong relationships built on mutual respect and trust. You will also have excellent communication skills and experience of working in a supervisory role.
